๐๏ธ Base Building Fundamentals
How Bases Work
In Palworld, a base is centred around your Pal Box (unlocked at Level 2). The Pal Box defines your base's radius (roughly 30 tiles in diameter) and is where all base operations are managed.
| Base Mechanic | Detail |
|---|---|
| Max Bases | 3 bases per world (default setting) |
| Pal Capacity | Starts at 5 Pals/base, increases with Pal Box level (max ~20) |
| Base Radius | ~30 tiles from Pal Box (roughly 60ร60 tiles total) |
| Building Limit | 3,000 structures total across all bases |
| Power | Electricity unlocks at Level 35+ via Generator + Orserk |
| Teleport | Fast travel to any Pal Box from a fast travel point |
๐ก Pal Box leveling: Upgrade your Pal Box by spending resources (wood, stone, ingots, etc.) at the box itself. Each level increases Pal capacity, base radius, and unlocks new buildable structures.
The Three-Base Strategy
With 3 bases available, optimise each for a different purpose:
| Base # | Purpose | Best Location | Key Structures |
|---|---|---|---|
| ๐ Base 1 | Production & Housing | Flat, central, near water | All workstations, farms, crafting |
| โ๏ธ Base 2 | Mining & Resources | Ore-rich cliff or mountain | Mining Pits, Crusher, Smelter |
| ๐งฌ Base 3 | Breeding & Ranching | Peaceful, flat, no raids | Breeding Farm, Ranch, Hatchery |
โ ๏ธ Important: Base 1 will face the most raid attacks. Build your defences here first. Base 2 and 3 can be in lower-risk areas.
๐บ๏ธ Choosing Base Locations
Production Base (Base 1) Location Criteria
| Factor | Ideal | Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| ๐น Flatness | Large flat area (no cliffs) | Rocky terrain, steep slopes |
| ๐ง Water access | River or pond nearby for Watering Pals | Desert (no water) |
| ๐ฒ Resources | Near trees + ore + stone | Middle of nowhere |
| ๐บ๏ธ Fast travel | Within running distance of a node | Far from any travel point |
| ๐ก๏ธ Raid safety | Natural chokepoint | Open plains (raids come from all sides) |
Best Production Base Coordinates
| Location | Coordinates (X, Y) | Why It's Great | Requirements |
|---|---|---|---|
| ๐ฟ Starting Plateau Cliff | 175, -475 | Large flat area, near water, central | None |
| ๐ Sealed Realm of the Frozen Wings | -350, 80 | Huge flat ice area, no raids | Early tower cleared |
| ๐ Volcanic Base (Sakurajima) | -800, -200 | Near oil, ore, heat-themed | Heat resist armour |
| โฐ๏ธ Desert Mesa | 500, 100 | Open flat, near coal/quartz | Desert survival gear |
Mining Base (Base 2) Location Criteria
| Location | Ore Nodes | Also Has | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| ๐ชจ Forgotten Island Ore Field | 8+ Ore nodes | Coal, Sulphur, Quartz | Mid-game metal farm |
| โฐ๏ธ Mountains NW of Desolate Church | 6+ Coal + 5 Ore | Pure Quartz | Coal + Ore + Quartz |
| ๐ Sakurajima Coast | 10+ Ore + 3 Oil | Paldium | Endgame resources |
| โ๏ธ Feybreak Snowfield | 12+ Ore + 5 Coal + Oil | Hexolite Quartz | Late-game farm |
๐ก Mining base tip: Build the Pal Box as close as possible to the centre of the ore cluster. Your Pals won't travel outside the base radius, so every node must be inside the circle.
๐ Production Base Layout
Efficient 3-Zone Design

| 6 | ๐ฆ Transport | Wumpo (Lv4) | Faleris (Lv3) |
| 7โ10 | ๐งน Gathering/Flex | Mossanda/Felbat/Flopie | Any Lv2+ gatherer |
๐ก The bottleneck is Transport. Even with Lv4 production Pals, if your transport Pal is slow, items pile up at workstations. Wumpo is the single best transport Pal due to Lv4 Transport + large hitbox for carrying stacks.
โ๏ธ Mining Base Layout
The Ring Design
For a mining base, the most efficient layout places workstations in a ring around the Pal Box:
[Ore Pit] [Ore Pit]
โ โ
[Crusher] โโโ [PAL BOX] โโโ [Crusher]
โ โ
[Ore Pit] [Ore Pit]
โ โ
[Smelter] [Smelter]
Mining Base Pal Team
| Slot | Job | Best Pal | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | โ๏ธ Mining | Astegon (Lv4) | Fastest ore breaker |
| 2 | โ๏ธ Mining | Blazamut (Lv4) | Also provides Kindling 3 |
| 3 | โ๏ธ Mining | Anubis (Lv3) | +Handiwork 4 for crafting |
| 4 | ๐ฆ Transport | Wumpo (Lv4) | Moves mined ore to chests |
| 5 | ๐ฅ Kindling | Blazamut or Jormuntide Ignis | Smelting speed |
๐ก Overlap strategy: 3 mining Pals + 1 transporter + 1 kindling. This keeps the ore flowing without bottlenecks. More mining Pals is actually worse if your transporter can't keep up.
๐งฌ Breeding Base Layout
Compact Breeding Setup
Breeding doesn't need much space โ just quality of life structures:
[Hatchery] โ [Breeding Farm] โ [Hatchery]
โ โ โ
[Chest (eggs)] [Feed Box] [Chest (materials)]
โ
[Hot Spring]
Breeding Base Essentials
| Structure | Quantity | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ฅ Breeding Farm | 2 | Active breeding pairs |
| ๐ฃ Hatchery | 2โ3 | Incubate eggs (different temperatures) |
| ๐พ Berry/Wheat Farm | 1 each | Cake ingredients |
| ๐ Hot Spring | 1 | Keep breeding Pals' SAN up |
| ๐๏ธ Chest | 4 | Eggs, materials, cake ingredients |
โ ๏ธ Breeding requires Cake: 1 Cake per breeding attempt. Recipe: 5 Flour + 8 Red Berries + 7 Milk + 8 Eggs + 2 Honey. Always keep a stack of cake in the Breeding Farm chest.
๐ก๏ธ Raid Defense Systems
How Raids Work
Raids are attacks on your base by hostile NPCs (Syndicate Thugs, Free Pal Alliance) or wild Pals. They trigger when:
- Your base's total defence score is below the raid threshold
- You accumulate wanted levels (killing humans in towns)
- Raiders spawn at the edge of your base radius and move toward your Pal Box
| Raid Type | Enemies | Attack Style | Difficulty |
|---|---|---|---|
| ๐ค Syndicate Thugs | 5โ15 humans | Ranged + melee | Easy |
| ๐พ Wild Pals | 5โ10 Pals | Elemental attacks | Medium |
| ๐ฐ Free Pal Alliance | 8โ12 humans + Pals | Coordinated attacks | Hard |
| ๐ Raid Bosses | 1 giant Pal + waves | Boss mechanics | Extreme |
Defense Wall Design
Building proper walls is essential for surviving late-game raids. Here's the proven design:
Top View:

Wall Building Materials by Stage
| Material | HP | Build Cost | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| ๐ชต Wood | 500 | 5 Wood | Early game (temporary) |
| ๐ชจ Stone | 1,200 | 5 Stone | Mid-game (minimum for raids) |
| ๐งฑ Brick | 2,000 | 5 Brick | Standard defence |
| ๐ฉ Metal | 3,500 | 5 Ingot | Late-game standard |
| ๐๏ธ Reinforced Concrete | 5,000 | 5 Cement + 2 Ingot | Endgame fortress |
โ ๏ธ Never use wood walls. Wood walls are destroyed in 2โ3 hits by mid-game raiders. Rush to stone, then metal as fast as possible.
Defense Post Layout
The most efficient defense layout uses Defense Posts (unlocked at Level 30):
Layout:
[Wall] [Wall] [Defense Post] [Wall] [Wall]
โ
Gate (open for Pals)
โ
[Wall] [Wall] [Defense Post] [Wall] [Wall]
| Defense Post | Materials | Damage | Ammo | Best Against |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ๐น Arrow Post | 30 Wood + 10 Stone | Low | Arrows | Early game |
| ๐ซ Gun Post | 50 Ingot + 20 Circuit | Medium | Bullets | Mid-game |
| โก Laser Post | 100 Ingot + 50 Circuit + 10 Polymer | High | Power | Endgame |
๐ก Automation tip: Assign a Pal with Handiwork to Defense Posts. They will automatically man the post and fire when raiders approach. No player interaction needed.
Chokepoint Strategy
Don't surround your entire base with walls โ it wastes materials and spreads your defense too thin. Instead:
- Identify attack directions โ raids always come from the same direction based on your map location
- Build a V-shaped killbox pointing toward the attack direction
- Fill the killbox with Defense Posts (4โ6 posts)
- Leave your other sides open (Pals can't path through walls, so open sides let them escape danger)

| ๐ก๏ธ Armour | Hexolite Armour (Feybreak) required |
| ๐ Healing | 50ร High-Grade Medicine |
| ๐ฏ Tactic | Stay at range, fire rockets, let Aqua Pals tank |
Fight Strategy
Phase 1 (100%โ60% HP): - Focus on dodging fireballs (3-shot burst pattern) - Blazamut Ryu charges at you โ dodge roll sideways - Summons fire Pals every 30 seconds โ keep your Pals on the boss, ignore minions
Phase 2 (60%โ0% HP): - Meteor storm: red circles on ground โ keep moving - Sweeping tail attack โ stay behind the boss - Enrages at 20% HP โ all attacks become two-phase combos
๐ก Water-type advantage: Water Pals deal 200% damage to Fire/Dragon types. A fully-condensed Jormuntide with Water-type attacks can solo this boss at high level.

๐ Raid Boss Guide: Xenolord
Unlocking Xenolord
Xenolord is the hardest raid boss, added in the Feybreak Update.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Level | 55+ recommended (level cap is 60) |
| Summon Item | Xenolord Slab |
| Slab Materials | 200 Paldium Fragment + 50 Hexolite + 30 Large Pal Soul + 10 Ancient Technical Parts |
| Location | Summoning Altar (must be upgraded to Level 3) |
| Warning | Prepare to lose your base โ Xenolord destroys structures |
Boss Stats
| Stat | Xenolord | Xenolord (Ultra) |
|---|---|---|
| HP | ~200,000 | ~500,000 |
| Element | Dark + Dragon | Dark + Dragon (enraged) |
| Attacks | Void beam, dimensional tear, gravity well | All + nova explosion |
| Minions | Dark + Dragon Pals (Lv 50+) | Ultra versions |
| Phase 2 at | 70% HP | 90% HP |
Dedicated Raid Base Strategy
Unlike Bellanoir and Blazamut Ryu, Xenolord will destroy your base unless you build a dedicated raid arena:
How to build a raid arena (not your main base): 1. Place a temporary Pal Box in a flat area far from your main base 2. Build the Summoning Altar at this location 3. Surround the altar with Reinforced Concrete walls (5,000 HP each) 4. Place Defense Posts on the outer ring 5. Summon Xenolord here โ let the arena take the damage
Recommended Setup
| Category | Setup |
|---|---|
| ๐ Your Pals | 5ร Dragon-type (Jetragon, Orserk) + Dark-resistant |
| โ๏ธ Weapon | Legendary Plasma Cannon + Hexolite Shotgun |
| ๐ก๏ธ Armour | Hexolite Armour (max upgraded) |
| ๐ Healing | 100ร High-Grade Medicine + 10ร Revival Potions |
| ๐ Accessories | Electric Shield + Gravity Gloves |
Fight Strategy
Phase 1 (100%โ70% HP): - Xenolord opens with Void Beam โ a continuous laser sweep - Run perpendicular to the beam direction - Dimensional Tear creates portals that spawn minions - Stay on a flying mount (Jetragon) to avoid ground AoE
Phase 2 (70%โ0% HP): - Gravity Well pulls you toward Xenolord โ spam dodge roll to escape - Nova explosion at 30% and 10% HP โ run to the arena edge - Final enrage (10%): Xenolord's attacks are 300% damage. This is a DPS race.
๐ก Team composition for Ultra: Bring 4ร max-condensed Jetragon with Holy Burst (+Divine Dragon) for massive damage. Bring 1ร Lyleen with Healing Wave to keep your Pals alive. The healing Pal makes a bigger difference than a 5th damage dealer.
Drops
| Item | Quantity | Drop Rate |

๐๏ธ Feybreak Island Endgame
Feybreak Island was added in the Feybreak Update (December 2024) and represents Palworld's hardest content.
Key Differences
| Feature | Base Game | Feybreak Island |
|---|---|---|
| Level cap | 50 | 60 (unlock via Feybreak XP) |
| New resource | โ | Hexolite (crafting + gear) |
| New Pals | โ | 30+ new Pals (Xenolord, Feybreak variants) |
| New gear | โ | Hexolite Armour, Plasma Cannon, Gravity Gloves |
| New mechanics | โ | Meteor Events, Supply Drops, World Bosses |
| Difficulty | Standard | Extreme (all mobs +20 levels) |
How to Reach Feybreak
- Reach Level 45+ in the base game
- Defeat at least one Tower Boss (Victor & Shadowbeak recommended)
- Travel to the Southwest corner of the map
- Cross the Feybreak Bridge (guarded by Level 55 Pals)
- Build a small forward base immediately upon arrival (no fast travel otherwise)
Feybreak Essential Gear Progression
| Stage | Gear | Materials Needed |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ฅ Arrival | Pal Metal Armour (base) | Existing base resources |
| ๐ฅ 30 min | Hexolite Pickaxe | 15 Hexolite + 10 Paldium |
| ๐ฅ 1 hour | Hexolite Armour | 60 Hexolite + 30 Pal Metal Ingot |
| ๐ Endgame | Plasma Cannon | 30 Hexolite + 20 Technical Parts + 5 Xenolord Soul |
Feybreak Key Resource: Hexolite
Hexolite is Feybreak's signature resource. It appears as glowing purple crystal deposits on cliffsides.
| Hexolite Tool | Materials | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ช Hexolite Pickaxe | 15 Hexolite + 10 Paldium | Mining speed +200% |
| ๐ช Hexolite Axe | 15 Hexolite + 10 Wood | Lumbering speed +200% |
| โ๏ธ Hexolite Drill | 30 Hexolite + 20 Circuit | Automated mining (very fast) |
๐ก Hexolite farming tip: Set up a mining base on Feybreak with 3ร Hexolite-capable Pals (new Feybreak Pals have innate Hexolite detection). Each deposit respawns every ~15 in-game minutes. A dedicated mining base here is incredibly profitable.
๐ข๏ธ Oil Rig & Crude Oil
Finding Oil
Crude Oil nodes appear in two locations:
| Location | Oil Nodes | Difficulty | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|
| ๐ Sakurajima Volcano | 4 nodes | Level 45+ enemies | Mid-game oil |
| ๐๏ธ Feybreak Coastline | 6 nodes | Level 55+ enemies | Endgame oil (recommended) |
Oil Extraction
Oil is extracted using Oil Extractors (unlocked at Level 45):
| Extractor | Materials | Output | Power |
|---|---|---|---|
| ๐ข๏ธ Basic Oil Extractor | 50 Ingot + 30 Circuit + 10 Polymer | 1 Crude Oil / min | 2 power |
| ๐ข๏ธ Advanced Oil Extractor | 100 Hexolite + 50 Circuit + 20 Polymer | 3 Crude Oil / min | 5 power |
What You Need Oil For
| Item | Oil Cost | Why You Need It |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ซ Plasteel Armour | 10 Crude Oil | Best armour before Hexolite |
| โก Circuit Board | 5 Crude Oil | All advanced tech |
| ๐ High-Grade Medicine | 3 Crude Oil | Best healing item |
| ๐ง Endgame Weapon Mods | 10โ20 Crude Oil | Damage/accuracy upgrades |
โ ๏ธ Oil tip: Oil is a slow passive income โ don't wait for it. Set up 2 extractors and check them every hour. 1 hour of 2 Advanced Extractors = 360 Crude Oil โ enough for most endgame crafts.
๐งฌ Pal Condensation & IV Optimisation
What Is Condensation?
Condensation is Palworld's endgame Pal power-up system, unlocked at Level 20+ via the Pal Condenser.
| Condense Level | Pals Required | Stat Bonus | Skill Upgrade |
|---|---|---|---|
| โญ Star 1 | 4 Pals | +5% all stats | Partner Skill Lv 2 |
| โญ Star 2 | 20 Pals (16 more) | +10% all stats | Partner Skill Lv 3 |
| โญ Star 3 | 50 Pals (30 more) | +15% all stats | Partner Skill Lv 4 |
| โญ Star 4 | 100 Pals (50 more) | +20% all stats | Partner Skill Lv 5 |
๐ก Condensation Cost: To fully max a single Pal from 0 to 4 stars = 100 Pals of the same species. This is a massive grind โ prioritise your rarest and most useful Pals first.
Condensation Priority List
| Priority | Pal | Why Max It First |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ฅ | Jetragon | Best mount + combat Pal, Partner Skill improves flight speed |
| ๐ฅ | Jormuntide Ignis | Lv4 โ Lv5 Kindling (insta-smelt) |
| ๐ฅ | Anubis | Lv4 โ Lv5 Handiwork (fastest crafter) |
| ๐ฅ | Lyleen | Lv3 โ Lv5 Medicine (best healer) |
| ๐ฅ | Orserk | Lv4 โ Lv5 Electricity (practical cap) |
| ๐ฅ | Jormuntide | Lv4 โ Lv5 Watering (fastest planter) |
IV System
Pals have hidden IVs (Individual Values) that determine their stat growth:
| Stat | IV Range | Effect at Max | How to Improve |
|---|---|---|---|
| โค๏ธ HP IV | 0โ100 | +30% max HP | Breeding |
| โ๏ธ Attack IV | 0โ100 | +30% attack | Breeding |
| ๐ก๏ธ Defence IV | 0โ100 | +30% defence | Breeding |
| ๐ Speed IV | 0โ100 | +30% speed | Catching specific Pals |
How to check IVs: Use a mod (like the IV-UI mod) or use the Pal Trader NPC on Feybreak (he assesses your Pals' potential).
IV Breeding Strategy: 1. Catch 100+ of the Pal you want to perfect 2. Check their IVs (via mod or Feybreak NPC) 3. Keep any Pal with 80+ in one stat 4. Breed the best HP with best Attack โ hatch offspring with combined IVs 5. Repeat until you have a Pal with 90+ in all 3 combat stats
๐ก IV vs Condensation: Condensation gives +20% to all stats. IV gives +30% to one specific stat. Both matter for endgame. Prioritise Condensation for base workers, IV for combat Pals.
๐ฟ Statue of Power & Pal Souls
How It Works
The Statue of Power (unlocked at Level 10) lets you permanently upgrade your Pals using Pal Souls โ rare drops from bosses, chests, and dungeons.
| Statue Level | Pal Soul Cost Per Upgrade | Max Upgrades Per Stat |
|---|---|---|
| 1 (Base) | 1 Small Soul | 4 |
| 2 (Upgraded) | 1 Medium Soul | 8 |
| 3 (Max) | 1 Large Soul | 14 |
Pal Soul Types
| Soul Type | Best Source | Used For |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ต Small Pal Soul | Dungeon bosses, chests | Early upgrades (HP, Attack, Defence) |
| ๐ฃ Medium Pal Soul | Tower bosses, Dungeon rewards | Mid upgrades |
| ๐ Large Pal Soul | Raid bosses (Bellanoir, Blazamut Ryu, Xenolord) | Endgame upgrades |
Upgrade Priority
| Stat | Why | Base Pals | Combat Pals |
|---|---|---|---|
| โค๏ธ HP | Survival against raids | ๐ฅ | ๐ฅ |
| โ๏ธ Attack | Damage output | ๐ฅ | ๐ฅ |
| ๐ก๏ธ Defence | Reduced damage taken | ๐ฅ | ๐ฅ |
| ๐ Work Speed | Faster base production | ๐ฅ base workers | โ ignore |
โ ๏ธ Large Souls are the bottleneck. You get ~3 per raid boss kill. A single Pal needs 14 Large Souls for max upgrades. You'll need to farm Bellanoir ~5 times per Pal.
๐ฆ Base Logistics & Automation Tips
Feed Box Management
| Tip | Detail |
|---|---|
| ๐ฅ Best food | Cooked Berry โ cheap, infinite, +50% satiety over raw |
| ๐ง Don't use cake | Pals eat cake if available! Keep cake in Breeding Farm chests only |
| ๐ Feed Box range | One Feed Box covers ~20 tiles radius |
| ๐ Auto-sort | Set Feed Box to "Only Food" in storage filter |
Monitoring Stand
The Monitoring Stand (unlocked Level 35) is essential for high-efficiency bases:
| Setting | Effect | When to Use |
|---|---|---|
| ๐ช Hard Work | Pals work harder but lose SAN faster | Active play (you can monitor them) |
| ๐ Normal | Balanced SAN vs work | Default |
| ๐ Relaxed | Pals take more breaks | Overnight / AFK farming |
๐ก Pro tip: Set Pals to Hard Work while you're actively playing and can manually put them in the Hot Spring when SAN drops below 50%. Switch to Normal for overnight AFK sessions.
Guild Chest Organisation
Use different chests for different item types โ Pals will auto-sort to the nearest chest with space:
| Chest # | Contents |
|---|---|
| ๐๏ธ Chest 1 | Ores + Ingots |
| ๐๏ธ Chest 2 | Wood + Stone + Fibre |
| ๐๏ธ Chest 3 | Food + Seeds |
| ๐๏ธ Chest 4 | Pal Spheres + Ammo |
| ๐๏ธ Chest 5 | Schematics + rare items |
| ๐๏ธ Chest 6 | Medicine + Potions |
๐ก Pro Base Building Tips
1. The "Foundation First" Rule
Always build a foundation (floor tiles) before walls. Pals can't path well on sloped terrain. A flat foundation prevents pathing issues.
2. Ceilings Are Free Space
Build a second floor for structures that don't need ground access: - Floor 1: Workstations, farms, crafting - Floor 2: Chests, beds, decor - Roof: Pal Statue, solar panels
3. Stairs Are One-Wide
A single staircase is enough for base access. Pals path one-at-a-time through 1-tile gaps. Wider stairs don't help โ but a second staircase on the opposite side does.
4. The 2-Tile Door Trick
Place doors in 2-tile gaps in your walls. Pals path through open doors, but larger enemies (like raid bosses) can't fit through. Forces enemies to attack walls instead of sprinting to your Pal Box.
5. Pal Bed Distribution
Place beds near workstations, not all in one bedroom. Pals sleep when their SAN drops to 0 and wake up wherever they are. Having beds distributed reduces travel time.
6. Hot Spring ร 2 Minimum
A single Hot Spring can serve 10 Pals if placed centrally. With 15+ Pals, build 2 Hot Springs on opposite sides of the base. Pal SAN management is the #1 bottleneck in large bases.
7. Don't Build on Ore Nodes
If you build a structure on top of an ore node, the node disappears permanently. Build around ore clusters, not on them.
8. Repair Between Raids
Always repair walls and Defense Posts between raid waves. A single gap in your defense line can cascade into a full base breach.
9. Save Schematics
Use the Blueprint function (available after Level 40) to save productive base layouts. You can then rebuild them at a second base in seconds.
10. Three Bases = Three Specializations
Never build three identical bases. This is the most common mistake in Palworld: - Base 1: Production + Defense (the "main" base) - Base 2: Resource mining (passive income) - Base 3: Breeding + Ranching (specialist production)
